Blackjack Etiquette

Every hobby or pastime has its own rules of p’s and q’s, and blackjack as well as other casino games is surely no exception. Numerous blackjack online players are alarmed by nonstop action of the blackjack table, and worried about making an entangling mistake. This article consists of some basic rules of blackjack etiquette for you to enjoy the game whenever, wherever.

The cards are dealt by the dealer, and the rules for who can touch the cards will differ. In few casinos, all the cards are dealt face-up, and only the dealer has the rights to touch the cards. In other casinos, the cards are dealt face-down, and players may have a look at the cards. If the players can see the cards, however, they must always keep observing the dealer.

After the dealing of the cards, the dealer will perform his task on each hand. The dealer usually points to each player when it is their turn to perform a move. If you want a different card, you indicate it by scratching the table with your hand. The hand signal is a must, since the security cameras should be able to tape the game.

If you do not want a different card, you indicate it by waving your hand palm down. This signal is also used to indicate that you are not accepting more cards.

There also games in which the players hold their cards, and scraping the table with the edge of the cards is the signal they use to indicate they want a different card. When you are happy with your hand, you need to slide the cards beneath the chips in the betting circle.

You lose automatically if your hand’s total exceeds 21. The dealer then takes your chips and cards away.

At the end of the hand, the totals of the cards are identified; the player approaching 21 wins. You lose if the dealer’s hand is closer to ‘21’ than yours. If there is a push, known as a tie, there is no winner or loser. If the dealer doesn’t go bust, he will pay the winners and take off the losers’ chips.
